Founder

I'm Ashley Darkstone, Founder of Darkstone Cybernetics, developing a General Cognition Engine for lightweight and advanced artificial intelligence.

Since I was a kid, I've always been interested in the future, technology, and robots! Sci-fi and computer tech provided endless fascination for me. At the same time, I became increasingly interested in my own mind, neurology, and psychology. I just love complex systems! And yet, I never truly anticipated that I would end up developing something like this. Even after teaching myself to program, and attending computer hardware, programming, and networking courses in high school and college, I thought that AI and robotics were out of reach and never considered pursuing them.

Then in 2016, likely inspired by recent progress in AI, I pondered one night, How would I make a digital mind? I have a very visual way of thinking, and the basis for the memory system and a few key components just came to me. I kept at it through the years, gradually refining the design, weaving together theory of mind, concepts, and a technical aim leading to a robust technical implementation. As of 2025, after nearly 9 years of continuous progress, I've begun development!

Company

When I founded Darkstone Cybernetics, LLC, in 2021, I was confident in my General Cognition Engine’s design, and flexibility to adapt to nearly any application. I believe cognition-based automation can transform countless fields, so I launched this company to pursue my vision of lightweight, advanced AI that drives human progress.

Over the next few years, Microsoft’s support through Azure credits fueled refinements to my technical implementation. By 2025, I redesigned the engine, scaling it from high-end workstations, already leaner than data centers, to mobile hardware, unlocking vast potential for robotics, IoT, and mobile applications.

Robotics are a key focus for me. I believe that in the near future, we’ll increasingly depend on robots to meet society’s demands. Beyond that, I see immense potential to strive for, and I can’t overlook it. I’ll keep advancing this engine because I’m committed to humanity’s technological potential, and I invite others to join me in this vision!
